Largest sailing trimaran in the world will sail with a McLaren MP4 in its garage

Any McLaren MP4-12C owner would know the importance of parking their super car in a carefully secured parking spot or garage. But what if this garage was movable and resided on the world’s largest sailing trimaran? You got that right – The CXL trimaran concept has a garage on board and fits in perfectly only the McLaren. The garage which resides on the yacht will take you to any port if you ever need to reach a mountain paradise or any pleasure spots that you will desire.

According to the UltraLuxum, the yacht is the largest sailing trimaran that features retractable outer hulls designed by McLaren Applied Technologies. When fully extended, the outer hulls stretch the yacht to 75 feet in width providing the better lateral stability, compared to a mono hull of similar proportions. However, that footprint would cause a problem at the entrance to smaller marinas. So the retractable hulls collapse the boat’s beam width to 36 feet wide, which is still more manageable. Happy Sailing! And well, Safe Parking!

It is also reported that construction, in vacuum-infused epoxy, will be at Tamsen Maritim and the CXL will be marketed by Bluewater Yachting. You can see the concept at the Monaco Yacht Show at Quai Chicane, berth QC18.

The SeaOrbiter: Futuristic Marine Research Vessel

This is not another futuristic hotel. It’s a futuristic oceanographic marine vessel that would be constructed with the sole aim of exploring the world’s oceans. Called The SeaOrbiter it would serve as a scientific laboratory as scientists explore the places that cover two-thirds of our planet and contain 80% of all life on Earth — the oceans. The brainchild of French architect Jacques Rougerie, The SeaOrbiter would also be the world’s first vertical ship standing at an impressive 170 feet (51m) tall. In order to make the vessel as stable as possible, two-thirds of its structure would remain underwater, giving the craft buoyancy, as well a “fish-collection system for studies of the pelagic ecosystem, plankton biodiversity, and fish stocks.” The SeaOrbiter concept, the $52.7 million project, has been discussed for over 12 years and as been dismissed on countless occasions as a pipe dream, but it seems like the project has gained traction and construction is rumored to start in October with the vessel launching next year.

Hong Kong beats New York as the world’s most expensive shopping destination

A new research led by global property advisor CBRE Group, Inc has quoted Hong Kong to be the world’s most expensive shopping destination owing to significant tourist inflows and continued increases in domestic wealth fuelling occupier demand from international fashion and luxury retailers. Hong Kong’s retail rents grabbed the top spot at US$3,864 per square ft per annum, while New York retained the second position at US$2,475 per square ft per annum. Although, the CBRE rankings of prime global retails rents saw little change in the first quarter of 2012, Hong Kong and New York experienced significant increases in retail rents quarter-over-quarter. The rest of the ranking also remained unchanged from last year’s ranking with Sydney retaining the third position, Tokyo the fourth and London maintaining the fifth position.

The total retail rents went up by a meager 0.8% globally, standing witness to the eurozone debt crisis and a weak global economic growth. The markets all over the world saw the occupier demand for prime space in major cities intensifying, and prime space being in short supply, making way for a big gap in the demand-supply ratio.

$1 million bra by Birmingham Estate and Jewelry Buyers

Moulded out of 18 carat gold and encrusted in 500 carats of diamonds, the $1 million solid-gold brasserie at the Birmingham Estate and Jewelry Buyers, which took over three months to design and took a crew of 40 workers almost a full year to make, is much more than just an article of clothing. The major design difference between the million-dollar Victoria’s Secret bras is that retailer’s designer bras have ‘fabric’ in them and the diamonds are kind of embellished into the fine fabric. Whereas, this particular gold bra created by the jewelry store owner Anthony Aubry, sports no fabric at all, as it’s crafted out of 750 grams of solid gold.

iPhone Spider Concept By Federico Ciccarese

We have featured a number of different concept smartphone here on Geeky Gadgets but this spider style creation from designer Federico Ciccarese is very unique indeed.

Ciccarese has designed his iPhone styled smartphone to be worn on the hand, with straps going between each of your fingers. Watch the video after the jump to see it in action.
The iPhone concept looks like a mechanical version of the face grabber from Aliens, which is fitted with what seems to be a flexible screen that curves to the contours of your hand.

I can’t imagine it being the most comfortable smartphone to wear for long periods with metal claws between your fingers, but the concept looks awesome and is very unique.

$12.2 billion house

Behold! The King of bling casts his spell to stun the world by transforming a house in Switzerland into the world’s most expensive house. Costing a whopping £ 7.5 billion ($12.2 billion), it comes loaded with solid gold and platinum fixtures and fittings. More than 200,000 kilograms of precious metal is used to bring in the bling element. Stuart Hughes has teamed up with Kevin Huber of exklusivHAUS of Zug Switzerland for a client who could afford to shell out an astounding amount to dwell in the most unique and most expensive house. The exclusivity bar is further raised by using meteoric stone with shavings of original Dinosaur bone from the 65 million year of Raptor, the T-REX right throughout the flooring. Coming back to the basic features that define a house, this uber-opulent den spreads well to accommodate eight rooms with special wine stone cellar and a garage with four parking places (to park your most expensive cars).

The site lists the details as - Land off: 2442m2, Living space: 725m2, Terrace: 388m2, Cellar: 245m2. The team took about five and half years to erect such an abode. The exact location is not revealed for obvious reasons! Well, this latest pompous address certainly makes the $1 billion house (which was touted to the most expensive house till date) appear humble. At this cost, we can add twelve Antilia to our planet’s skyline.
